As a person who is really in tune with the law of attraction I have come to realize that it has a huge role in real estate commissions. As we passed the August 17th NAR commissions settlement deadline we witnessed all different reactions. Some agents who already required buyer agreements said it is business as usual. Some agents cried out “No one will be able to afford an agent”. Then others really didn’t say much at all and just went about their business. Lastly a good amount of agents just flat out quit.
Now let’s break down each group. For the business as usual folks they knew all along that in order to attract more commissions they must sign more contracts. They took their forward thinking and always secured their commissions. This was a very positive choice that not only rewarded them in the past but now comes around to reward them in the future. Having a contagious can do attitude helps them land more leads which they convert to under contract clients. Being in a contract is always the best idea.
Next we have the “no one will be able to afford an agent” group. This group of agents has often assumed that everyone is cash broke and has no way out of it. They do not realize by thinking this all the time they in fact have created a close group of people that are broke. Assuming everyone can not afford housing has attracted them difficult leads. Now as they segway into the contract up front market they are starting to notice how not serious a lot of their “buyers” were. This group should make a move fast towards learning to find a new lead base and attract better leads.
The group that did not say much tells us they probably do not have much business. Staying away from getting involved is how to stay “safe” and not make mistakes. This type of energy attracts low committal buyers. Buyers that look at one house and shy away ghosting the agent. The type of people who fear contracts. If you are in this group, think about your actions. You need to get involved right away or you will end up in the next group.
The last group quit. Quitting was a decision made that being a real estate agent is no longer for them. This is a good thing for other agents because it means less competition in a saturated market. Sometimes the law of attraction pulls people from one journey to the next. As an agent it is good to make friends with those who left the business. They can be great referral partners. The key element to remember about the law of attraction is that you MUST actually believe in, and put the energy into what you want for an outcome. Stay focused, stay strong, and earn those commissions.
